The Bali Diary: Day Two ♡

The Bali Diary: Day Two ♡

DAY TWO IN BALI!  After spending the day before getting adjusted to the heat and getting our bearings, we woke up ready for an action-packed day full of sight seeing ahead of us!   There seem to be three popular ways to get around to visit all the must-see locations; a DIY tour by scooter, booking a tour through a company (and getting on their bus with others), or hiring a driver for a day to take you to the places you want to see. I spent a bit of time on......

Mexican Inspired Meal-Prepped Lunch: Chicken Tortilla Soup, Chips with Pico de Gallo & Guac

I haven’t met anyone that doesn’t love Mexican food! I am obsessed! I normally default to making my own Mexican food because I find it annoying that it’s so expensive to go out to eat Mexican food here in New Zealand compared with what you pay in the States. When I lived in NYC one of my favourite restaurants was this place just West of the West Village called Tortilla Flats.  It was like a Mexican restaurant on crack and I LOVED EVERY INCH of that place! As I was deciding what......

What Week 11 BBG Was Really Like

Week 9 Death By Kayla is a very real thing.  Search the #deathbykayla hashtag on Instagram if you don’t believe me! All of a sudden the BBG programme steps up a notch when you reach Week 9, so it’s not a week that you forget quickly!  Week 11 happens to repeat the same workouts, so I couldn’t help but feel a bit hesitant about what was waiting for me. Something I’ve learned during the past few months, is that BBG is so much more of a mental workout than a physical one.  I discovered that I......

Lemon Ricotta Crepes

#PancakeSunday is one hashtag that I am in full support of!  I love to take a bit more time on a Sunday to create an indulgent brunch dish to enjoy at home, and every Sunday that tends to be pancakes!  I’ve shared my tried-and-true healthy no-guilt Weekend Pancake recipe, and this is another pancake-mix you can add to your arsenal! I’ve kept this recipe SUPER simple, with just a few ingredients to keep the calories in-check.  You may want to add a few more oats to your recipe, but the below quantity worked......

Week 10 BBG Progress & Check-In

It’s so important to take progress photos. They’re really hard to look at, especially at first, because you can’t escape from where your body has gotten to. As the weeks pass and you take follow up photos, even if the scale isn’t moving they can provide great motivation to keep progressing and being consistent in doing your workouts and eating clean so that you CAN reach those goals you set for yourself! I wish I had taken more photos when I was beginning, but like I said, it was pretty hard to......

Low Carb Cauli-Rice Risotto

Cauliflower has become my BFF on my weightloss journey because it is one of the most versatile vegetables on a low-carb diet! If you are struggling with carb-cravings, then you need to add this item to your weekly shopping list STAT! What I love about cauli, is that it feels “carby” when you use a bunch of it, but it also makes a fab side dish to pad out any meal in a low-carb way while still getting those 5+. A few weeks ago I made my first ever risotto, and I......

Pan Seared Salmon & Creamy Zoodles ♡

This delicious dinner features one of my all-time favourite weightloss friendly ingredients: ricotta cheese!  You may recognise that ingredient from calorie-laden lasagna, but that’s not the only way this ingredient can be used.  This soft, mild cheese has more to offer than you may think.  Much more — particularly if you’re like me and trying to lose weight. Hold up, you’re probably thinking. Cheese? Good for weight loss?  Before you go on a total Brie bender, let’s be clear: we’re talking about ricotta cheese here. What makes ricotta different than other cheeses?  Well,......

One Month Progress

One Month Progress

Dave and I both knew that we needed to make a change to feel better about ourselves, including an overhaul of our lifestyle. We’d become regulars at La Porchetta every weekend, and the Chinese Restaurant around from our house knew our orders pretty much off-by-heart. We’d attempted to lose weight, half-heartedly a handful of times throughout the year, but then at the end of a long day we’d make a late-night run to the freezer and pull out our two tubs of ice cream (cause you need to have flavour options!) topped off......

How I Lost (Almost) 3kg in a Week! You Can Too ♡

Last week I wrote about how I finally weighed myself and saw just how much work I had to do. To be honest, it felt almost impossible.  But after talking it over with friends, everyone made a good point – I had nothing to lose, so best I get going and trust the process. A week in, and I can give an update as to my progress.  After one week of committing to my workout plan, and sticking to my daily calorie goals, I have lost 2.8kgs!  I still can’t quite believe it.......

I need to lose weight. A lot of weight. ♡

I stepped onto the scales, and the number staring back at me was NOT GOOD! I have a journey ahead of me to lose 16kgs. Yikes. When I actually say the number, it definitely sounds intimidating.. but broken down into monthly goals, I know that it’s something I can realistically achieve if I keep working at it and make some changes. One of those changes, is taking on the BBG 12 Week Challenge. I’ve had the BBG programme for a long time, and I’ve never made it past the first two workouts.......
