Facing My Fears and Pressing Upload! ♡

Completing the 12 Week BBG Challenge did so much more for me than only kick-starting my weight-loss and fitness goals, it also increased my confidence.   It got me thinking; if I could tackle BBG, what other goals am I capable of going after? I’ve been watching and following my favourite YouTubers for years, loving their videos and really wanting to make my own, but I have always been too scared to hit upload.  It’s just you in front of a camera sharing your life with those watching… Terrifying!  But if BBG......

So.. I fell off the wagon ♡

Life has been crazy.  Last week was the final week of Uni before the term break and in true law-school fashion, every assignment was due on the last day of term – which also happened to be my birthday!  That’s right, I am now officially another year after celebrating my birthday on Friday!  Hello, 28! All in all, looking back at the week that was, I am really proud of what I did accomplish: I managed to fit in all of my BBG week 12 resistance workouts.  I didn’t get to fit......

I Finished 12 Weeks of BBG 1.0!

Today was my FINAL day of BBG 1.0!  12 Weeks of resistance, LISS & HIIT workouts all came to an end, but it’s not the end of my health & fitness journey.  When I started BBG I had just celebrated New Years Eve in New Zealand, which involved a lot of drinking and eating, and I was at my heaviest weight.  Three months of consistent effort and work later, and I’ve dropped four kgs, as well as building muscle, strength, endurance and dropping cms from around my body. Four kilos doesn’t sound......

Never Stop Trying and Failing ♡

When you scroll through someone’s Instagram, chances are you’ll only see the good stuff.  This isn’t exactly a ground breaking announcement!… Social media has been around long enough now, and we’re pretty well aware that we need to be careful believing what we see just ’cause it’s on our feed. In addition to that, we all know that we shouldn’t compare ourselves to strangers on the internet, yet we all are a little guilty of doing so in some way, shape or form.  Atleast I am.  Although I have a Facebook and......

Overweight & Over It

Whoever came up with the saying “ignorance is bliss” really hit the nail on the head. Living in your own bubble, not really engaging with reality can be one of the sweetest things EVER! I’m talking specifically about eating healthy and working out. I spent a good three or four years in a completely ignorant state as to what these concepts really meant. I ate and drank whatever I wanted, when I wanted. And if I went to the gym, it definitely wasn’t for a serious sweat session.. more just because I......

Mexican Inspired Meal-Prepped Lunch: Chicken Tortilla Soup, Chips with Pico de Gallo & Guac

I haven’t met anyone that doesn’t love Mexican food! I am obsessed! I normally default to making my own Mexican food because I find it annoying that it’s so expensive to go out to eat Mexican food here in New Zealand compared with what you pay in the States. When I lived in NYC one of my favourite restaurants was this place just West of the West Village called Tortilla Flats.  It was like a Mexican restaurant on crack and I LOVED EVERY INCH of that place! As I was deciding what......

What Week 11 BBG Was Really Like

Week 9 Death By Kayla is a very real thing.  Search the #deathbykayla hashtag on Instagram if you don’t believe me! All of a sudden the BBG programme steps up a notch when you reach Week 9, so it’s not a week that you forget quickly!  Week 11 happens to repeat the same workouts, so I couldn’t help but feel a bit hesitant about what was waiting for me. Something I’ve learned during the past few months, is that BBG is so much more of a mental workout than a physical one.  I discovered that I......

Lemon Ricotta Crepes

#PancakeSunday is one hashtag that I am in full support of!  I love to take a bit more time on a Sunday to create an indulgent brunch dish to enjoy at home, and every Sunday that tends to be pancakes!  I’ve shared my tried-and-true healthy no-guilt Weekend Pancake recipe, and this is another pancake-mix you can add to your arsenal! I’ve kept this recipe SUPER simple, with just a few ingredients to keep the calories in-check.  You may want to add a few more oats to your recipe, but the below quantity worked......

Protein Packed Mini Carrot Cake

I love cake!  Especially carrot cake!  Nothing beats a slice of carrot cake with thick cream cheese icing … yum!  My birthday isn’t too far away, and already I have given Dave major hints that I’d like a carrot cake (here’s hoping he reads this post too!).  The problem with cake, and any sweet baked goods really, is it’s not a healthy choice to have on the regular because it can be PACKED full of sugar and hidden bad fats. This carrot cake reinvents the wheel, it has basically NO sugar, is full......

Week 10 BBG Progress & Check-In

It’s so important to take progress photos. They’re really hard to look at, especially at first, because you can’t escape from where your body has gotten to. As the weeks pass and you take follow up photos, even if the scale isn’t moving they can provide great motivation to keep progressing and being consistent in doing your workouts and eating clean so that you CAN reach those goals you set for yourself! I wish I had taken more photos when I was beginning, but like I said, it was pretty hard to......
